self-portraitThe story of my life isn't very relevant, but I'll tell you anyway. I was born in Kenai, Alaska, where I lived until attending Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. Potential clients might be frightened to know that I actually graduated with a degree in Theatre, and I moved to New York with the idea to pursue my acting career.

Of course, the time came to get headshots so that I could start going out for auditions, so I started looking around. Here's where I could say that I saw nothing that interested me so I started to take matters into my own hands, but that would be a lie. The truth is that I liked a lot of the shots that I saw. I liked them a lot. I fell in love with the headshot, something I'd never really viewed as anything with real photographic merit. I realized that it was the direction I wanted to take my photography. I wanted to take pictures of people in a format that was unabashedly about that person, except for the posey or stiff or über-artsy stuff. I wanted to take pictures that were like the best traits of the best actors I know: honest, earnest, attractive and fun.

So that's my story. I love taking pictures. And when I can bring some of my passion to one side of the camera while someone else brings theirs to the other side, it's a lot of fun. And it looks really good.
